RIGA - The European Union (EU) needs to review to whom it provides financial support, because quite often this support is used against the EU's own interests, MEP Ivars Ijabs (For Latvia's Development) said in an interview with the Latvian public television today.
Ijabs reminded that in the context of EU aid to the Palestinians, the question has arisen on how much of it has actually gone to the terrorist organization Hamas.
It is a problem that Europe very often gives money to regimes that are politically completely opposed to our interests, the politician stressed. "We are very often feeding those who are doing us wrong", Ijab added.
