VILNIUS – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis is taking part in a meeting of the EU's Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) on Monday, with a focus on the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.

EU foreign ministers are expected to continue the discussion on the bloc's political and security commitments and military assistance to Kyiv, the use of frozen Russian assets for rebuilding Ukraine, Moscow's responsibility, and support for the implementation of the Ukraine's peace formula.

They will discuss further steps following last December's decision by EU leaders to open accession negotiations with Kyiv. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is to join the meeting via video link.

The FAC will also hold an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East in the wake of Hamas' terrorist attacks on Israel, coordination with partners to prevent further escalation in the region, cooperation on peace in the Middle East and humanitarian aid to Gaza, maritime security, and measures to combat terrorism.
