EU commissioners Schmit, Sinkevicius to visit Lithuania

VILNIUS – European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights Nicolas Schmit and Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevicius are coming to Lithuania on Thursday. 

Schmit is arriving in Lithuania to discuss the Commission's labor and social priorities and the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Commission Representation in Lithuania has said.

He is scheduled to meet with Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, the speaker of the Seimas, members of parliamentary committees, and education ministry officials. 

On Friday, the commissioner is to meet with Social Security and Labor Minister Monika Navickiene, and members of As Esu (I Am), a community of people with addictions.

Sinkevicius is to take part in the Transport and Logistics 205 forum, attend the award ceremony of Towards Green Transport, a competition organized by Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways), and meet with Polish Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk, and representatives of Auga Group, Spark and Apranga Group.
