EU Commissioner Kubilius to discuss European security, defense in Vilnius

VILNIUS - European Commissioner for Defense and space Andrius Kubilius is starting an official visit to Lithuania on Monday to discuss European security and defense.

During the two-day visit, discussions will also cover support for Ukraine and Belarusian hybrid attacks against Lithuania, according to the European Commission Representation in Vilnius.

Kubilius is scheduled to meet Juozas Olekas, speaker of the parliament, Economy and Innovation Minister Edvinas Griksas, Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys, Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovic, and representatives of the Lithuanian Laser Association.

The European Commission plans to allocate more than 6.3 billion euros to Lithuania from the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument to bolster the country’s defense preparedness.
