Estonian startup PetWorld Global launches a unique and innovative mobile app in Monaco which enables pet owners worldwide to identify any lost pet and helps to reunite them with their owners.

Estonia, known as European Silicon Valley, has once again become the source of an innovative solution to an everyday problem, this time a unique app to quickly find your lost pets. Its founder, Monika Laneman, known worldwide as a hobby dog breeder and trainer, came up with the electronic PetID idea after she lost her dogs in Italy. “Dog identification microchips are only registered in the country of origin which in my case was Estonia. Luckily my dogs were found with the help of the local police. But it made me wonder why there is not a global identification system that can quickly and efficiently locate the owners of lost pets regardless of what country you are in,” she explains.

For the PetFinder Global app to function, you have to register your pet on https://petid.global , order the personal PetID for your cat or dog, link it to your pet registration and then attach it to your pet’s collar. “The app is extremely easy to use. If you find a lost pet, just turn on your PetFinder Global app and the animal will be identified. The app then enables you to contact the owner directly,” Laneman explains.

The PetFinder Global concept is unique due its global approach and usability. It does not matter which country you are in, your pet is registered on a global platform and can be identified anywhere in the world. “The PetID is also linked to the microchip and dog license information that are needed in order to travel to different countries. Microchip information recovery requires a visit to a vet but most people have a mobile phone,” Laneman continues. Your personal registration includes options to record vaccination, flea and tick treatment dates and will remind you when they are next due to be given.

According to Laneman, originally a GPS solution was tested, however, it was too large, heavy and the battery lasted only a few days. “What if your pet gets lost while your device is charging?” Laneman asks. So the team developed the PetID concept on Apple-established iBeacon technology. This solution allows people to identify the animal within a safe 50-meter radius, it is also very light and the battery lasts for a year.

PetID’s first outlet in Monaco is Happy Dog MC, owned by Karen September, a dog psychologist. “PetFinder Global is indeed an innovative solution to the lost pet problem. It is effective, easy to use and allows pet owners to register their pet on a global community site that is dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their owners,” she states. September believes that the PetFinder Global is essential if you are traveling between different countries with your pets. “For example, one of my clients will be visiting five different countries this year with her dogs. This is the only solution to give her peace of mind that her dogs will be identifiable if lost - no matter which country she is in,” adds the dog psychologist.

The PetFinder Global app is now available for all iPhone users and can be downloaded from the App Store. You can also connect your phone to the app just by scanning the QR code on the back of the PetID badge. The PetID iBeacon costs 29.90 euros (about 33 USD) and can be ordered online at https://order.petid.global or bought directly from your local distributor.
