TALLINN – Estonian Minister of Regional Affairs Piret Hartman and Moldovan Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea discussed cooperation opportunities in the field of agriculture and signed a cooperation action plan for the years 2024-2026.
Moldova is interested in Estonia's experience in aligning the agricultural and food sector with European Union standards.
"Estonia fully supports Moldova's integration into the European Union. We support the opening of an intergovernmental conference with Moldova and the rapid start of accession negotiations. Supporting Moldova's development, security and reforms is very important to us," Hartman said.
Estonia continues to be interested in the last agricultural twinning project in Moldova. The ministers also signed a cooperation action plan for the years 2024-2026.
"I am glad that there are many common topics of interest between our countries. I hope that the action plan will lead to many fruitful projects," Hartman added.
In the first two months of 2024, 357,340 euros' worth of goods of Estonian origin have been exported to Moldova, of which nearly 85 percent was frozen fish and the rest was cheese.
At the same time, 426,070 euros' worth of goods were imported from Moldova, of which 76 percent were alcohol and water and 13 percent were bread and bakery products.
During the visit, the Moldovan delegation led by Minister of Agriculture an Food Industry Vladimir Bolea also visited the Tartu office of the agricultural registers and information agency PRIA and the E-Piim milk production plant.
