Estonian president to visit Siil exercise

TALLINN – Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid is scheduled to visit the Siil (Hedgehog) large-scale military training exercise in South Estonia on Saturday afternoon to get an overview of the exercise and meet with reservists, conscripts and allied military personnel taking part in it.

Kaljulaid will look at the operation of the Toikamae radar station of the Air Force near the town of Otepaa and meet with reservists taking part in a reservist training event.

The president will then be airlifted with a Lynx Wildcat AH1 helicopter of the British Army to the area of Rouge in southeastern Estonia, where she will meet with conscripts of the 2nd Infantry Brigade, U.S. military personnel and reservists of the South Estonia territorial defense district.

The president will be accompanied on the tour by the deputy commander of the Estonian defense forces, Maj. Gen. Indrek Sirel.
