TALLINN, Jun 03, BNS - International law is of vital importance to small countries, Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid said on Sunday at the Lennart Meri Conference in Tallinn.
"Therefore sometimes you have to make this choice in your heart to go against your allies and they accept this argumentation. This creates a new layer of security," Kaljulaid said.
If Estonia becomes a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, it does not plan to deal with small questions, the head of state said. "We are planning to deal with all the large issues and look 30 years ahead," she added.
According to Kaljulaid, these discussions should be held beforehand.
She also said that Estonia has a responsibility to offer solutions in digital issues.
