Estonian PM to take part in informal meeting with EU counterparts in Versailles

TALLINN - Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is to take part on Thursday and Friday in an informal meeting of EU heads of state or government in Versailles, France, to discuss Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, security and how to strengthen European sovereignty and defense capabilities.

On Thursday evening, the EU heads of state and government will focus on the latest developments in Ukraine and discuss the EU's next steps, including additional sanctions, giving an EU accession prospect to Ukraine, supporting Ukraine and refugees and improving defense capabilities.

On Friday, the discussions will focus on ways how to strengthen EU economy by reducing energy and raw material dependency and diversifying supply chains. The heads of state and government will also discuss how to design a new growth and investment model.
