Estonian PM to participate in meeting of EU heads of state, govt

TALLINN - Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is to take part in a meeting of the heads of state and government of the European Union in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday.

EU leaders will discuss Ukraine, defense and security, food security as well as energy and energy prices. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also make an appearance at the beginning of the meeting via video conferencing.

Before the European Council meeting, Kallas is scheduled to meet with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to discuss the green transition, implementation of climate goals and support for Ukraine.

Kallas will also take part in a meeting of Nordic and Baltic heads of state and government before the European Council meeting. At the beginning of the Council meeting, there will be an exchange of views between the heads of state and government and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
