TALLINN - Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal is to participate in the meeting of the European Political Community and the subsequent informal meeting of the European Council in Budapest on Thursday.
"We must stand here today for a strong and solid Europe. Undermining European unity, blocking aid going to Ukraine, and making friends with the aggressor will take our continent closer to lasting peace," said Michal before the meetings. "We must not let the aggressor reshape Europe's security architecture."
At the meeting of the European Political Community, starting in the before lunch according to the Estonian time zone, the leaders of more than 40 European countries will discuss challenges to European security, including Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. After the joint opening plenary, Michal will participate in a round table discussion focusing on improving European economic security and connectivity.
The prime minister of Estonia is also scheduled to have bilateral meetings with his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan and President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani.
In the afternoon, Michal will head to the informal meeting of the European Council, the main topic of which is improving European competitiveness. The heads of state and government of the European Union gathered for the meeting will also discuss the latest developments in Georgia.
