ANNAPOLIS - Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas visited the US state of Maryland and laid a wreath at the grave of Senator John McCain, spokespeople for the government said.
"I laid a wreath today at the grave of admirable statesman John McCain. Estonia will not forget that McCain was a genuine friend to our state and our people and a firm supporter of transatlantic cooperation," Ratas said.
McCain, a war hero and great supporter of Estonia and other former Soviet countries in Eastern Europe, passed away in August 2018 at the age of 81 from a brain tumor.
The Estonian premier also met with Adjutant General of Maryland National Guard Maj. Gen. Timothy Gowen and visited the US Naval Academy in Annapolis.
