TALLINN - Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas on Friday issued a video statement on overcoming the coronavirus crisis.
The video address was also published on the government leader's Facebook account. BNS is publishing the text of the statement in unchanged form:
"Good people of Estonia!
With each passing day, we can see more and more that we are overcoming the health crisis with all our joint efforts. We are now facing social and economic challenges.
Thus, it is time to focus on the future. Think and act to rebuild our daily lives without anxiety because of the coronavirus.
To do so, we need to take some clear steps.
First, we need to keep the virus under control. The risk of contracting a disease for which a cure or vaccine is still being sought is low, but still present. That is why we must continue to be careful and cautious in our behavior.
Secondly, please take positivity along with you from this crisis. In addition to worries, the health crisis also offered us much to rejoice in. For example, people's care in helping their loved ones and companions. The more frequent utterances of 'thank you' and 'how can I help?' have confirmed the strong ties between our society. Let us remember that feeling.
I would also like to add cleverness here. Digital learning, mobile testing, rapid response, smart changes in entrepreneurship and so on -- all this helps us to continue as a stronger and healthier society.
I sincerely hope that the coming weekend will bring us all good ideas to take away from the crisis into the future.
Take care of yourselves and be happy!"
