TALLINN – The board of the Riigikogu on Monday decided to open proceedings on a bill of the three government coalition parties to amend the law on the salaries of senior state servants.

The Center Party, Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE) and Isamaa groups in the Riigikogu on March 25 handed in a bill to amend the Salaries of Higher State Servants Act by introducing in the law the concept of "emergency situation," in order to enable reduction of the coefficients applied to the salaries of senior state servants also during an emergency situation in addition to a state of increased defense readiness and a state of war, spokespeople for the Riigikogu said.

As a second amendment, the three parties want to enable the parliament to reduce the salary coefficients for all of the categories of senior state servants listed in the law without exceptions.

The constitutional committee was appointed the bill's leading committee.
