TALLINN – As part of his visit to Bahrain last week, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna participated in panel at a security conference on Sunday and met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Bahrain's parliament speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam.

In the discussion at the security conference that focused on global security, Tsahkna stressed that the crises and conflicts that the world is faced with are interrelated.

"We need to open our eyes, take responsibility, and take concrete and bold steps. With the help and willpower of the international community, lasting and just peace is possible in both the Middle East and Ukraine," Tsahkna said according to spokespeople.

In the discussion with Jaishankar, bilateral relations, the crisis in the Middle East, the situation in Syria, and the Russian aggression in Ukraine were talked about.

"I am pleased that relations between Estonia and India are developing rapidly. We are both very interested in digital development and innovation, and we have much to learn from each other," the Estonian minister said.

The ministers discussed Russia's aggression in Ukraine and ways to achieve a just peace. Tsahkna referred to the conference discussion on global security, emphasizing that Russia's aggression is not regional, but affects the entire world.

"Russia has involved North Korean soldiers in its aggression, and China is watching the course of this war with interest," he said. "Allowing Russia to successfully change borders in Ukraine through force will set a dangerous precedent that borders can be altered anywhere."

"Helping Ukraine to ensure its sovereignty and territorial integrity contributes to the security of all countries," Tsahkna said.

During the meeting with bin Salman Al Musallam, the minister said Estonia is looking for ways to intensify interaction with Bahrain. They also talked about strengthening practical cooperation, especially in the field of cyber and innovation.
