TALLINN - Estonian MEP Jaak Madison (ECR) will on Thursday vote in favor of a bill to express no confidence in European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the plenary session of the parliament in Strasbourg.
The motion of censure initiated by MEPs from the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group highlights a series of serious accusations about the activities of the European Commission, which undermine the transparency, rule of law and democracy of the European Union.
The Commission is accused of violations of the law and ethical problems in vaccine procurement, covert communications with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, financial mismanagement in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), exceeding its powers in planning the "Rearm Europe" program, and interference in the Romanian and German elections.
"The von der Leyen-led Commission has been caught in fraud, criminal negligence and attempts to interfere with the sovereignty of member states," Madison said.
"I am also joining the vote of no confidence because the changes that von der Leyen's new Commission promised at the beginning of its term have not been implemented. The green turn has only been given a cosmetic treatment, instead of putting the project on hold. The curbing of mass immigration has also not proceeded at the expected pace. Von der Leyen's actions so far have shown that she is unable to implement change for the better," he added.
