TALLINN - Estonian MEP Urmas Paet deems it warranted to strip Serbia of its EU candidate state status due to its pro-Russian and pro-Putin positions.

"While large demonstrations are being held in all European states in support of Ukraine and ending the war, in Serbia, an EU candidate state, demonstrations are being held in support of Russia and Putin," Paet wrote on social media. "Also, Air Serbia is the only large European airline still operating flights to Russia."

"I don't deem it possible for a state holding such values to retain its status as an EU candidate state," Paet said in a Facebook post illustrated with photos of a demonstration in Belgrad where the flags of the Russian Federation were flown.
