TALLINN - An Estonian woman was killed in Antalya, Turkey, last week with the victim's husband apprehended as suspect by the police, Postimees reports.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports that the crime took place in the seaside resort of Kemer on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast as a conflict broke out between the vacationing spouses.

A citizen of Estonia by the name of Mihhail, aged 42, attacked and battered his 41-year-old spouse in a hotel room. The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics where she died from her injuries.

Mihhail was apprehended as suspect by the police.

Spokesperson for the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anna Tisler-Lavrentjev told Postimees that the ministry is aware of the incident.

"The arrested individual has not contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," she said.

The Estonian consul is ready to assist in the organization of transporting the victim's body to Estonia.
