TALLINN - Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry Erkki Keldo is visiting Finland on Monday and Tuesday to meet with Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman and visit an industrial fair in the city of Tampere.
At the meeting of the two ministers of economic affairs, the main topics will be entrepreneurship and investment, innovation, tourism, space, and cooperation with Business Finland.
"Competitiveness and economic growth are definitely priority topics in the relationship between the two countries, as our companies and markets are strongly linked. Finland, as our good neighbor, is undoubtedly our most important trading partner, and the well-being of the economy is our common challenge," Keldo said in a press release.
Alihankinta 2024, an industrial trade fair taking place in Tampere, focuses on the fields of metalworking, mechanical engineering, plastics, electronics and IT. Estonia will be represented by a joint stand of 13 companies and the Federation of Estonian Engineering Industry. The companies participating in the joint stand are Valdek, TB Works, Astro Baltics, Pentamet, Tech Group, Plastone, Radius Machining, Boomerang Cable, Danival MW, Exmet Services, Hoob, and Smitech. In addition, Estonian companies Lapi MT, Hanval Metall, K.MET, MPK-Import, Proforce Industry and RGR Airon are on display separately.
Finland is Estonia's largest trading partner. Trade between Estonia and Finland amounted to 6.4 billion euros in 2023, accounting for 16.2 percent of Estonia's total trade. Estonia's services exports amounted to 1.9 billion euros in 2023 and imports to 714.4 million euros. Finland is one of the largest investors in Estonia. According to the Bank of Estonia, investments from Finland account for 19.8 percent of all direct investments in Estonia. Finnish residents made 1.7 million visits to Estonia in 2023, an annual increase of 13.3 percent over 1.5 million visits in 2022.
