Estonia's largest open-air cinema to open in Tartu on Saturday

TARTU – Tartuff, the love film festival of the Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), will open Estonia's largest open-air cinema in Tartu's Town Hall Square on Saturday evening. 

The festival will kick off at 10 p.m. with the screening of the Thai film "Gohan – White Dog." The movie follows the life of a stray dog from puppyhood to old age and is inspired by the plight of homeless dogs and the loneliness people experience in modern society. 

The festival will conclude on August 15 with the musical film "Moulin Rouge," which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. 

A total of 13 feature films and a collection of shorts, all exploring the many facets of love, will be screened on the festival's 128-square-meter open-air screen. The program features films from four continents. In addition to the open-air screenings, documentaries and youth films will be shown at the Tartu Elektriteater cinema.

All screenings are free of charge.

For the duration of the festival, 1,000 chairs will be set up in the Town Hall Square. 

The 21st edition of PÖFF's Tartuff love film festival is presented by the City of Tartu and Elisa.
