TALLINN – The council of the opposition Free Party finds that the political decision-making regarding the high-speed railway Rail Baltic is not characteristic of democratic, 21st century Estonia, therefore Prime Minister Juri Ratas should take time off and not sign the Rail Baltic (RB) agreement next week.

The party finds that RB's public relations money has been used to disparage activists who have asked reasonable questions and for a brutal one-sided propagandist attack. "A fair option for compensating for the expropriation of the lands on the Rail Baltic route has not been found," the party writes in its position regarding the Rail Baltic agreement which was sent to Ratas on Saturday.

The Free Party wants the head of government not to sign the three-way agreement between the Baltic countries before a solution has been found for compensating for the land to be expropriated.

The party wants all documents, decisions and analyses regarding Rail Baltic to be made public.
