TALLINN - A meeting of the foreign ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), chaired by Estonia, is taking place in Vihula on Thursday and Friday.
The meeting will be attended by the foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, the secretary general of the Foreign Ministry of Iceland, and Olof Skoog, deputy secretary general for political affairs at the European External Action Service (EEAS). The meeting will focus on regional security and the issue of the Russian shadow fleet threatening the Baltic Sea.
In addition, a report with proposals on the future of the CBSS will be presented by former Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves and former Lithuanian foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation on critical underwater infrastructure in the Baltic Sea will be signed.
