TALLINN - Estonian Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) is to propose making an amendment to the Constitution according to which marriage is only between a man and a woman.
According to member of the parliamentary constitutional committee Mart Nutt, the change would be based on a proposal made in the final report of a legal expertise of the Constitution, according to which the institution of marriage would be defined in the Constitution as a union between a man and a woman which corresponds to the long-standing traditions in the Estonian society.
