ESENA Pārdaugavas dārzi present lifestyle classes in opening season

RIGA - The inaugural season of the new, modern outdoor recreational garden area “ESENA Pārdaugavas dārzi” will be opened on June 9, with an educational event for residents as well as guests of Riga. The first season will see several nature, celebrations and green living themed lifestyle events, featuring professionals of various areas. The gardens, ranging over 60 hectares, will look to become a beloved destination for those seeking activities or rest during holidays as well as daily.

“We invite the people of Riga, and especially Pārdaugava, to be closer to the nature more often, live healthier and in harmony,” says Dinnija Laksa, director of “ESENA Pārdaugavas dārzi”. “We’ll discuss world trends and help people learn new practical skills of many areas in our open-air masterclasses. Our goal is to have everyone learn at least three new and useful things in our open-air lectures.”

Active or relaxed recreation, festivities and gardening

The gardens include several areas for adventures and movement, for those seeking physical activity. The youngest visitors are welcome to go to “Ķiparu taka” (“Kids’ trail”) as well as velocart track and hire. Families are welcome to test their agility in rope trails of various difficulty as of late June. Watersports fans will have the chance to get to know the area with a boat or a stand up paddle board (SUP). There are beach volleyball and football grounds in the activity area too, as well as a golfing practice place.

There is also a designated area for festivities and relaxed recreation, in an equipped garden. Visitors will have the opportunity to rent a glamping tent, equipped for private and corporate events, whereas an open-air celebration can be held in a designated picnic spot. There is also a chill zone with hammocks in a cooling shade.

Those longing to have a garden of their own will have the opportunity to set one up in our secluded 600 m² territory and spend their summer days out in the nature. These private zones can be rented short as well as long-term, besides in some, a garden house is also available to rent.

Open-air events

Throughout the season, six lifestyle classes, featuring professionals of respective areas, are scheduled. People will have the opportunity to learn about as well as practice green wall and moss graffiti creation, gardening in urban areas, free time planning skills with children, garden party design, gong meditation, use of backyard plants in beauty care, green living, use of autumn harvest and other activities.

On June 9, greening expert Ilze Gulbe will give advice and give practical illustrations on how to create green wall and moss graffiti, whereas Faculty of Architecture representatives from Riga Technical University will share research, observations and world trends on urban gardening as well as gardening influence on health and education, in class “Dārzkopība kvadrātmetrā” (“Gardening in a square meter”). The event will provide an opportunity for each to set up their own mobile garden.
