Erasmus+ projects in education for almost EUR 27 million approved this year

RIGA - The Latvian State Education Development Agency  (VIAA) this year has approved Erasmus+ projects in the sector of schools, professional, adult and higher education sector with the total financing of more than EUR 27.97 million, VIAA spokeswoman Kristine Keica reported.

The sum is formed up from the European Commission's financing for student mobility and strategic partnerships in education and learning worth EUR 25.89 million and government budget co-funding for mobility of university students and personnel worth EUR 2.08 million.

This year in total 182 mobility projects for EUR 18.77 million were approved.

Next year 2,387 students, 1,574 university lecturers, 583 general education teachers and 172 vocational school teachers will go on exchange visits to Erasmus+ member states.

Erasmus+ is a EU education, youth and sports program. The Education and Science Ministry is the ministry responsible for implementation of the program in Latvia.
