The council of Latvia’s second largest city Daugavpils has been sacked Rihards Eigims (Our Party) as Daugavpils mayor.
At the council meeting on November 22, 11 councilors, including six members of Latgale Party, four councilors of Harmony party and one councilor of Eigims’ Our Party, voted for dismissing Eigims as Daugavpils mayor.
A petition calling for Eigims’ resignation had been signed by nine of the city council’s 15 members, which was enough to unseat the mayor in the vote.
