TALLINN – Four serious traffic accidents occurred in various parts of Estonia on Monday, injuring a total of eight people.
The first accident happened at 5:44 a.m. in Tartu municipality, Tartu County, where a Mazda passenger car driven by a 62-year-old woman cut in front of a microcar driven by a 41-year-old man. The driver of the microcar was taken to the hospital, the Police and Border Guard Board told BNS.
The second accident occurred at 1:51 p.m. in Lääneranna municipality, Pärnu County, where a Fiat passenger car collided with a 40-year-old man on a bicycle. The cyclist was taken to the hospital. The exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
The third and most serious accident happened at 4:57 p.m. in Kambja municipality, Tartu County, where a Volvo passenger car driven by a 19-year-old woman failed to yield to a Mercedes-Benz travelling on the main road, causing a collision. The 49-year-old driver of the Mercedes and four passengers in the Volvo – three 19-year-olds and one 20-year-old – were taken to the hospital.
The fourth accident took place at 5:52 p.m. in Kiili municipality, Harju County, where a 35-year-old man showing signs of intoxication jumped out of a moving car. The passenger was taken to the hospital for a check-up.
