Education minister is open for talks with teachers' trade union - Karins

RIGA - In relation to the teachers' strike, Education and Science Minister Anita Muizniece (Conservatives) is fully open for talks with the teachers' trade union, said Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) after the coalition meeting today.

Karins said that his government has kept all promises given to teachers, at the same, it is clear that some teachers are concerned about the new wage model and optimization of school network.

In a conversation with Karins, Muizniece has listed solutions for a mutual compromise.

Karins also spoke about Russian war in Ukraine and challenges in the energy sectors. He said that in the current situation nobody needs destabilization of the government.

Krisjanis Feldmans, the chairman of Conservatives group at the parliament, confirmed that the minister is open for communication to discuss possible compromise scenarios.
