VILNIUS – Lithuania's Economy and Innovation Ausrine Armonaite has invited Sojitz, a Japanese automotive, aviation and transport business and infrastructure development corporation, to set up its business in Lithuania.

"The company is considering expanding its operations in Europe and is currently actively seeking investment opportunities. In Lithuania, we provide easy and fast conditions for potential investors, we also have a strong pool of engineering talent, we are consistently investing in study programs in computer science, engineering and mathematics, so I have no doubt that we can become a location for the company's expansion," she said in a press release after meeting with Sojitz CEO Tatsuhiko Niitaka on Thursday.

According to the ministry, Sojitz Group is one of the seven largest business groups in Japan, with total assets of around 16.9 billion euros. The company provides services and invests worldwide.

The company's core business focuses on the automotive industry, aviation and transport projects and infrastructure development. A large part of the aviation business is related to aircraft maintenance, leasing and dismantling.
