Dutch violinist and conductor Rieu to perform in Riga next year

RIGA - Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu is scheduled to perform at Xiaomi Arena in Riga on June 3, 2027, Danute Vareikaite, a representative of the event's organizers, told LETA.

Rieu, whose tours regularly sell out arenas from Santiago to Abu Dhabi, will return to Latvia in the summer of 2027. With over 40 million albums sold and more than 700,000 audience members annually at over 80 concerts around the world, Rieu is undoubtedly one of the most successful live artists of our time.

In summer 2027, audiences will be treated to a romantic program of opera and musical melodies, film music, classical favorites, traditional songs, and lively waltzes.

Rieu was born in Maastricht into a musical family. His father was conductor of the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. Rieu started playing the violin at the age of five. In 1978, he founded his first ensemble, the Maastricht Salon Orchestra, which became the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987.
