RIGA - A document obtained by German tabloid Bild, which says that NATO is preparing for a possible Russian attack, is a hypothetical scenario, not a secret intelligence analysis, NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence Director Janis Sarts said on Twitter.
He points out that a hypothetical scenario for a military exercise is always an imaginary situation to test military capabilities in one area or another. In the past, such scenarios were entirely fictitious, featuring non-existent countries and geographies, but nowadays such scenarios involve existing countries and geographies, explains Sarts.
Furthermore, this is not a secret intelligence analysis that predicts how the situation will evolve, emphasizes Sarts.
As reported, Bild reports, referring to a secret document of the German Bundeswehr, that NATO is preparing for a possible attack on its eastern flank by the aggressor country Russia.
Bild notes that the document of the German Ministry of Defense describes in detail a possible "path to conflict" between Russia and NATO, culminating in the deployment of hundreds of thousands of Alliance soldiers and the inevitable outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
