The court ruling annulling the demotion of Juta Strike, the former long-standing high-ranking official at the Latvian Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB), by way of disciplinary punishment while she was still working at the corruption watchdog, has taken effect, and the KNAB will have to pay her a compensation of over 13,000 euros.
Supreme Court Spokeswoman Baiba Kataja said that the Supreme Court on Oct. 28 rejected a procedural appeal about the said ruling by the Riga Regional Court. The rejection is final, therefore, the regional court ruling has taken effect.
