Construction of the STIGA RM new wood processing mill begins in Ogre

One of the leading Latvian wood processing companies, STIGA RM, has signed a partnership agreement with the construction company BauArt for the development of a new production mill in Ogre. At the end of October, a ceremonial time capsule laying will mark the start of construction. Over the next three years, a large-scale birch plywood mill specialising in custom formats will be established, significantly expanding the company’s capacity and strengthening Latvia’s position as a competitive exporter in international markets.

“This will be the third STIGA RM wood processing mill, and each of them has been built in cooperation with BauArt. I am confident that this collaboration will once again be a success, making this project one of the most notable examples of industrial development in the Baltics,” says Andris Ramoliņš, owner and Chairman of the Board of STIGA RM.

BauArt representatives also emphasise that this is one of the company’s largest projects in recent years. “The construction of the mill is a technologically and engineering-wise demanding project that requires high precision and a professional approach. We are proud to have the opportunity to develop a new industrial flagship in Latvia together with STIGA RM,” says Alvis Krēķis, Chairman of the Board and Commercial Director of BauArt.

The new mill will be located in an area where a sawmill historically operated, transforming it into a modern industrial hub with a long-term vision for sustainable development. Construction will be carried out in two phases, with completion planned for 2029. The total investment is expected to reach approximately €92 million, partly supported by state co-financing.
