RIGA - The construction of a partially retractable roof at the Daugava Stadium in Riga, the home stadium of the Latvian national football team, has been completed, the Latvian Football Federation informs.

The roof will cover the first level of the stadium's western stands.

The construction of the retractable roof will allow the classification requirements for stadiums of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to be met, including for covered media seats.

LFF President Vadims Lasenko points out that the improvements made at the Daugava Stadium are a testament to the successful cooperation between the LFF and the stadium management. "We are glad that this football and sports facility has become even more comfortable and friendly for the fans," said Lasenko.

These investments in the development of the Daugava Stadium have brought it closer to obtaining the fourth or highest UEFA category.

Latvia is hosting Andorra this evening in a UEFA Nations League match.
