Since the Draugiem Group company DeskTime opened a representative office in India last year, its business in this market has grown by 40%. Currently, DeskTime collaborates with 13 software distributors in India, who have introduced the Latvian-developed tool to internationally recognized companies such as the insurance giant AXA. This rapid growth has been significantly driven by the establishment of the local office.
“High-quality time tracking – whether a company operates in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid model – is an essential tool for boosting productivity worldwide. India is a rapidly growing economy with substantial foreign investment, which made establishing a presence in this region a natural next step in our export expansion,” emphasizes Veronika Malnača, Head of Business Development and Partnerships at DeskTime.
This year, Foreign Minister Baiba Braže visited India on a working trip together with representatives of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and a business delegation, including companies such as Eventech, Deep Space Energy, PrintyMed, Nordichem, the Certification and Testing Centre, and DeskTime. Entrepreneurs from both countries discussed potential cooperation in areas such as information and communication technologies, the space industry, green technologies, bioeconomy, and others.
“India and Latvia have strong bilateral relations with great potential for economic growth. The deepening of relations between Latvia and India is also demonstrated by the opening of the Indian Embassy in Latvia in 2024 and the accreditation of India’s first resident ambassador to Latvia in March 2025. During my working visit to India, I received much praise and recognition from officials and business organizations for the achievements of Latvian entrepreneurs, especially in the ICT and space industries. It is gratifying that several Latvian brands are not only successfully operating in India but have also become well recognized, such as DeskTime. In discussions with the European Business Federation in India, we covered key sectors of the Latvian economy and Latvia’s achievements in high technology and innovation – areas with great potential for cooperation – as well as the main advantages and challenges for entrepreneurs working in the Indian market. The Foreign Service will continue to use all tools at its disposal to represent Latvia’s economic interests – supporting entrepreneurs in building visibility, entering foreign markets, and attracting foreign investment and partners is one of our key priorities,” said Foreign Minister Baiba Braže.
She also noted that in 2024, the export volumes of Latvian companies grew not only to European countries but also to more distant markets – the United States, Japan, Egypt, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Canada, and India. According to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, Latvia’s total foreign trade turnover with India in 2024 amounted to EUR 371.4 million, representing a 67.2% increase compared to 2023. Latvian exports to India reached EUR 58.4 million in 2024, marking a 26.4% increase compared to the previous year.
DeskTime successfully exports its services worldwide. The company's software is widely used in European countries and North America, which are important markets for the company's international growth.
“The success of service exporters like DeskTime, SAF Tehnika, TestDev Lab, Aleph, and others confirms that the ICT sector is one of the cornerstones of Latvia's exports with significant development potential. This growth brings tangible benefits both at the company level and for the country as a whole,” emphasizes Kaspars Rožkalns, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Exporters Association “The Red Jackets”.
DeskTime is a productivity-enhancing tool that allows employees to analyze and manage their working time. The app helps identify the most productive hours, detect distractions, and foster sustainable work habits. It is particularly suitable for companies with flexible schedules or remote work, offering automatic time tracking, a simplified reporting process, and a clear overview of workload. This enables companies to boost efficiency while proactively preventing employee overload and burnout risks.
