The Latvian National Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) will turn on the civil defense sirens throughout Latvia at 10 a.m. on Thursday for testing purposes, the VUGD said.
A total of 164 sirens will be blaring across the country for three minutes during the test to make sure the alarm system is functioning properly.
Residents need not be worried and no further action is required. The VUGD also urges hotel administrators to inform foreign guests about the upcoming alarm test.
