With an investment of approximately 550,000 euros, conveyor and automation solutions manufacturer Caljan has opened a new Technology Centre in Liepaja. The centre allows customers to experience the company's solutions in real working conditions, assuring efficiency and safety. It is one of three Caljan Technology Centres worldwide, alongside Germany and the United States.
Among the first visitors are international parcel carriers, European postal operators, leading tyre manufacturers, and apparel wholesalers. They emphasize that being able to test Caljan solutions in practice helps them make better-informed investment decisions. Demonstrations also show clearly how automation reduces manual workload, improves workplace safety, and speeds up parcel flow.
This investment shows our strong commitment to developing advanced manufacturing infrastructure in Latvia. It is a strategic step in driving innovation in partnership with our customers. By testing and refining tailored solutions together, we can meet evolving business needs more effectively. At the same time, it gives our team the chance to work hands-on with the latest technologies and build unique professional expertise every day,” says Gatis Dradeika, General Manager of Caljan Latvia.
The centre is more than a venue for customer visits. It also serves as a training space for Caljan employees and partners and as a service point for equipment upgrades that cannot be carried out at customer sites. In cooperation with Riga Technical University’s Liepaja branch and the Liepaja State Technical School, it functions as a learning environment where students can work with modern technologies and gain practical experience that provides valuable insight into everyday working life.
The demonstration areas are equipped with live-streaming capabilities, enabling remote sessions. In Liepaja, customers can see and test the AutoLoader and AutoUnloader – Caljan’s latest automation solutions for trailer loading and unloading. Up to 30 customer groups are expected to visit the centre each year.
The Liepaja site strengthens Caljan’s global growth while also creating new job opportunities in Latvia. With demand rising and orders increasing, the company is currently looking for additional project-based employees – primarily engineers and mechanical assemblers – to ensure the successful delivery of customer projects.
