Bumblauskas, Doveika named most influential public figures in Lithuania

VILNIUS – Vilnius University historian Alfredas Bumblauskas and priest Ricardas Doveika have been named the most influential public figure in Lithuania, according to a survey of Lithuania's elite, carried out by Spinter Tyrimai for the delfi.lt news website.

The traditional elite survey gave Bumblauskas and Doveika 308 and 271 votes respectively. Bumblauskas has been leading the ranking for the past five years, and Doveika went up from the third place from last year, replaced by political scientist Linas Kojala with 229 votes this year.

The Top-10 also includes theater and opera director Dalia Ibelhauptaite, theater director Oskaras Korsunovas, Vilnius Archbishop Gintaras Grusas, political scientist Lauras Bielinis, educologist Austeja Landsbergiene, journalist Algimantas Cekuolis and priest Algirdsa Toliatas.

In a separate public survey by Spinter Tyrimai, Cekuolis came in first, followed by Bumblauskas and conductor Donatas Katkus. The public Top-10 includes many figures mentioned in the elite list and also actor and director Rolandas Kazlas, as well as singer and architect Algirdas Kauspedas.
