VILNIUS – The British royal family is a symbol of stability in international politics, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said after the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in London on Saturday.
"The British royal family has always been a symbol of stability in international politics, distinguished by its strong foundation of values," Nauseda, who attended the ceremony at Westminster Abbey with his wife Diana, said in a press release.
"I trust that Charles III, like the late Queen Elizabeth II, will seek to foster ties with Lithuania, and that our countries will continue to successfully cooperate in light of the security challenges and threats facing the transatlantic area," he said.
Nauseda said that Lithuania and the United Kingdom were not only trusted allies, but also like-minded countries, united by shared values, respect for freedom and democracy.
According to the president, "Lithuania and the UK maintain excellent bilateral relations in the fields of security and defense, and Lithuania looks forward to expanding cooperation in the future".
