Braze to participate in Baltic and Nordic foreign ministers’ meeting in Estonia

RIGA - On April 29-30, Foreign Minister Baiba Braze (New Unity) will participate in the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of the Baltic and Nordic countries (NB8), which will take place this year in Kuressaare, Estonia, LETA learned from the Foreign Ministry.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, is also expected to participate in the discussions.

The ministers will discuss current regional security issues, support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia's aggression, European security and defense efforts and their contribution to strengthening the capabilities of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, as well as preparations for the upcoming NATO high-level meetings. They also plan to discuss the current situation in the Middle East and international efforts to ensure access to the Strait of Hormuz. A joint statement by the NB8 foreign ministers is planned.

A joint press conference by the ministers is scheduled for April 30 at the conclusion of the meeting.

The NB8 cooperation format includes Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. In 2026, NB8 cooperation in the field of foreign affairs is coordinated by Estonia.
