RIGA - The body washed ashore in Garciems on Tuesday evening has been identified as the Latvian jet-skier who disappeared in mid-July on his way to Ruhnu Island, the State Police confirmed to LETA.
On Tuesday evening, a passer-by spotted a the body of a man in the sea in Garciems, Carnikava Region. The emergency services arrived at the scene.
However, an expert examination will not be necessary to establish the identity of the man, as he has been identified.
As reported, on July 13, two Latvian citizens, who were on their way from Kaltene to Ruhnu Island on jet skis, disappeared in Estonian territorial waters. Their vehicles had technical problems at sea and they tried to reach the coast by swimming.
Naval forces from both countries were involved in the search for the missing. One of the missing persons successfully reached Ruhnu, while the other, Sergejs Tvauri, born in 1986, was not found.
