RIGA - Better a bad peace than a good war, Ainars Slesers, leader of the opposition party Latvia First, said in an interview with LTV this morning.

Slesers expressed his hope that the next US President Donald Trump would bring the war to a swift end. Slesers did not elaborate on the terms of peace, while Ukrainian politicians have expressed concern that a de facto unilateral concession or capitulation should not be imposed on Ukraine.

The opposition politician accused the "Latvian power elite" of having worked so far only with the Democrats in building political relations with the US, but now the Republicans have taken power.

"The world will change," Slesers said, reiterating that the current liberal power in Latvia also needs to be replaced, and that he would work until the next elections to consolidate politicians and residents who represent Christian values.

As reported, Slesers, whose name has been involved in several corruption scandals in the past, including the so-called oligarch affair, was named as one of the country's three so-called oligarchs by former Latvian President Valdis Zatlers.
