Belarus' democratic opposition leader Tsikhanouskaya to pay working visit to Latvia

RIGA - Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of Belarus' democratic opposition, will pay a working visit to Latvia next Monday and Tuesday, November 27 and 28, to call attention to the increasing repressions of Alexander Lukashenko's regime and discuss prospects of further support to Belarus' democratic movement, LETA was told at the Foreign Ministry. 

During her visit, Tsikhanouskaya will meet with Latvia's top officials - President Edgars Rinkevics, Saeima Speaker Daiga Mierina (Greens/Farmers), Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity), as well as Interior Ministry State Secretary Dmitrijs Trofimovs, Riga Mayor Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity) and Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andris Pelss. 

During the visit, Tsikhanouskaya is scheduled to attend a meeting at the Foreign Ministry, which is expected to bring together regional directors for Russia and Eastern Europe from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, the UK, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Finland and Sweden. 

In a ceremony at the National Library of Latvia, Tsikhanouskaya will present a donation for the library's People's Bookshelf. The Belarusian leader is also scheduled to give interviews to several Latvian media.
