RIGA - Coordinated action by all three Baltic states is essential to synchronize their power transmission systems with the continental European grid, President Edgars Rinkevics said on Monday.
Justine Deicmane, head of the president's press office, informed LETA that the president on Monday met with Climate and Energy Minister Raimonds Cudars (New Unity) to discuss further steps to be taken for a timely synchronization of the Baltic power transmission system with the continental European grid.
The meeting between Rinkevics and Cudars dealt also with Latvia's readiness for the upcoming heating season and other issues related to energy security and climate goals.
The president heard the climate and energy minister's information on the filling of the Incukalns underground gas storage facility as well as discussed the current trends in the natural gas and wood chips market and the development of solar and wind energy projects in Latvia.
The climate and energy minister informed the president on the progress of drafting a bill on energy cost support.
