Baltic prime ministers to prepare for NATO summit in Riga

TALLINN – Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte will meet in Riga on Friday to discuss ways to strengthen deterrence and defense capabilities on NATO's eastern flank and coordinate efforts in view of the upcoming NATO summit, which will take place in Madrid in June.

The prime ministers will also discuss how to reduce dependence on Russian energy, strengthen European Union sanctions against Russia and support Ukraine in the best possible way, spokespeople for the Estonian government said on Tuesday.

The three prime ministers will hold a joint press conference at noon on Friday.
