Baltic PMs to meet with German chancellor in Riga

RIGA - Prime Minister Evika Silin (New Unity) is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte in Riga next Monday, LETA was told at the State Chancellery.

The meeting of the German and Baltic heads of government is expected to focus on security and defense matters, European Union affairs, support to Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, as well as economic cooperation and the development of regional energy and transport projects. 

According to the State Chancellery, the 3+1 format has become a tradition where the Baltic leaders discuss current matters with the German chancellor. The meetings are intended not only to strengthen cooperation between the Baltic states and Germany, but also to coordinate the approach to tackling the most urgent international challenges.
