TALLINN - Baltic navy divers are to disarm explosive devices found in the Toila Harbor area in North-East Estonia next week as part of the joint exercise Divex.
Divex, the joint exercise of Baltic mine clearance divers, will kick off on Monday. Participants in the part of the exercise to be held in Toila Habor include 12 divers from Estonia, seven from Latvia, and eight from Lithuania, spokespeople for the Estonian Navy said. The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board will also take part in the exercise.
As part of the exercise, the underwater EOD experts will dive to 30 previously identified explosives. Devices that cannot be disarmed on-site will be transported to safe locations for detonation.
Next year's exercise will be organized by the Latvian Naval Forces.
