RIGA - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will participate in the Countries in Focus program at the European Film Market of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival next year.
The National Film Center's representative Agnese Zapane told LETA that the respective agreement was signed in Cannes by Berlinale Executive Director Mariette Rissenbeek, Estonian Film Institute CEO Edith Sepp, Latvian National Film Center's Deputy Director Inga Blese, and Lithuanian Film Center's Director Laimonas Ubavicius. The ceremony was also attended by Lithuanian Deputy Culture Minister Daina Urbanaviciene, Latvian Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance) and Estonian Culture Minister Tiit Terik.
The Baltic States in Focus program at the Berlin International Film Festival next year will feature various aspects of the film industries of the three countries. The organizers hope that this will be an opportunity for Baltic producers, film distributors, businessmen, sponsors and creative talents to expand cooperation with partners in other countries.
Since the launch of the Country in Focus program in 2017, Mexico, Canada, Norway and Chile have been featured in the program.
The European Film Market will take place from February 16 to 22 next year during the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
