Baltic and Nordic Foreign Ministers to meet in Latvia

RIGA - On September 6-7, Foreign Ministers of the Baltic states and Nordic countries (NB8) will meet in Latvia, LETA learned from the Latvian Foreign Ministry. 

Latvia will be represented at the meeting by the Prime Minister, acting Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karins.

The meeting will address support for Ukraine and regional security, focusing on issues of energy security and hybrid threat, as well as cooperation between NB8 countries in international organizations.

It is planned that delegations will visit Cesis, where they will meet with the Chairman of the City Council, Janis Rozenbergs, and visit a company, Defense Partnership Latvia.

The meeting will be concluded in Riga with a joint press conference at the Foreign Ministry.

Latvia has assumed the coordination of NB8 cooperation in 2023. Latvia’s priorities in the NB8 coordination effort are related to the strengthening of a rules-based international order, military security and deterrence capabilities, and resilience.
