Baltic, Polish rescue services will analyze Ukraine's war experience

RIGA - A meeting of the Baltic rescue services will be held in Riga, during which Ukraine's war experience will be analyzed, LETA learned from the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).

Considering the geopolitical situation and the close cooperation of the Baltic states and Poland with Ukraine, representatives of the Polish and Ukrainian rescue services have also been invited to the meeting.

"The Baltic states and Poland are facing similar challenges, therefore it is planned to continue the started cooperation in order to improve response of the services. We will work separately and together," said VUGD chief Oskars Abolins.

The role of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and disaster management is growing, therefore participating in the meeting will also be Hans Das, Director Emergency Response and rescEU, DG ECHO - European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation, European Commission.
